    Description

    This unusual large asymmetric vegetable ivory button is deep carved and to look like a stylized pine cone. It measures 1 1/4 by 1 7/8 inches, and it's  dome is just under 1/2 inch high it looks like half of a taugua nut, the source of vegetable ivory.  Some of the brown coloring has worn off at the bottom, and there are some fine cracks, a hole and several grooves in the back. The shank is secure, and it would look wonderful on something like a handwoven cape or shawl.
