The Deore skewers are Shimano’s entry-level kit, but you really couldn’t ask for anything more.
They use the same enclosed mechanism as the XTRs – which means no issues with dry, worn cams – have a dependable steel shaft and a nice soft lever shape that’s easy to close and equally easy to gently lever open via the small keyhole should you get carried away with the force. Utilitarian soot black might not suit everybody, though.
