    Description

COLLECTIBLE LOT OF VINTAGE DRIVER’S EDUCATION MATERIAL
My mother-in-law tried to learn to drive…twice.
She never did get her license.
She did, however, save these items.
One of them is positively laugh inspiring…a really condescending handout for women learning to drive.
    Chock full of mansplaining!
It would be a fun gift for a new driver!
    ·
RULES OF THE ROAD for Illinois.
    Two booklets.
    Each measures about 8 ½” x 5 ¼” and has 114 pages.
One dates from June 1972 and the other from January 1970. Both are in very nice condition except the ’72 booklet has a few pages with some minor underlining in red ink and the “70 booklet has a dark line of something stuck to the back.
    ·
    PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE SAFETY CALCULATOR.
Cardboard folder with slide that shows different situations and what a bicyclist or pedestrian should do.
Measures about 3” x 6” when closed and slide is inside.
    ·
    EXPLANATION OF ILLINOIS ROAD SIGNS.
8 ½” x 11” sheet of paper with illustrations of road signs and their meanings.
    Dated 1973.
Has been folded into eighths and shows some wear, especially along the folds.
    ·
ESQUIRE DRIVING SCHOOL HAND OUT: WHAT EVERY WOMAN DRIVER SHOULD KNOW.
Three sheets of 8 ½” x 11” paper with two staples along the left side.
(Someone has actually inked out the “wo” of woman! Hard to believe my mother-in-law was that liberated!)
There is no date on the handout but the phone number still has an exchange name (Hudson 3-4774).
It is basically a guide for what a woman should do if her car causes her trouble when driving.
    It is dated….and amusing.
    Quite a find!
I try to describe my items fairly and honestly to the best of my ability but please keep in mind that I am not an expert.
Please feel free to email me should you have any questions at all about them.
If you buy more than one item/lot I have up for auction this week, if possible I will gladly package them together and save your shipping costs.
I ship (to US only, please) usually within 1 business day after confirmation of payment. Payment should be made within 2 days of auction’s end unless arrangements have been made between buyer and seller.
