Larrivée Model J-05 Mahogany Jumbo Guitar 2000

Description

This is a Vancouver made J-05 Jumbo. It's build was complete on November 20, 2000. This was prior to the high gloss guitar production being moved to California. This Larrivée J-05 sports a Jumbo body, a design pioneered by Gibson at the end of WWII with the SJ-200, and successfully used by notable builders like Guild. The Jumbo design provides lots of power and volume with clarity and separation.
The Larrivée J-05 uses a Sitka Spruce top with abalone rosette, Mahogany for the back, sides and neck, and ebony for the fingerboard, bridge and headplate. The body is bound with curly maple, the neck with grained ivoroid. The example includes an active under-saddle Fishman pickup.
This is an excellent playing and sounding guitar. It's not without some issues. It has 4 cracks in the top all of which have been professionally repaired. These were all done at least 10 years ago and are stable. There are two cracks in the side from being bumped. One on the bass side of the lower bout and one near the end pin. It has a few other other scrapes or bruises. None of these affect its playability or sound. There is some fret wear on the first position frets. The original hard-shell case and truss rod tool are included. The case shows some wear but is completely functional.
