HAZEL ATLAS "MODERTONE" 9" AMETHYST ROUND GLASS BOWL - GOOD CONDITION 1934-1950s

Shipping With Insurance by USPS Priority Mail. Up for auction is One VINTAGE ORIGINAL HAZEL ATLAS AMETHYST "
MODERNTONE" 9 INCH ROUND BOWL IN GOOD CONDITION, except for one small chip on its inside rim. This bowl was originally made between 1934-1942, and being so popular, that Hazel Atlas made this a second time from the early 1940s to the early 1950s
in their famous amethyst color. This glass was machine made by pressing the melted glass into the mold which results in its beautiful Art Deco design of four concentric rings along its top edge, as can be seen in the photographs
.
I only wish I had more, because it is so gorgeous. When used on a dining room table for entertainment, this amethyst colored bowl must have looked really awesome on the table. It measures about 9 inches across, and is about 2 1/2 inches deep, and sits on a 4 1/2 inch round base, as can be seen in the photographs. It is absolutely beautiful, and was purchased from an old estate sale on Long Island. It was pre-owned and is in really great condition, except for that one small chip on the inside rim, as seen in the last photograph; not bad for a bowl
which is
between 70 and 87 years old.
I found it sitting on a shelf inside a living room cabinet, where it must have sat for many years and was hardly used, because, amazing enough, there aren't any scratches anywhere on the bottom where they would be expected to be found. It also has absolutely no inner rim roughness except for that one small chip, which these platters are known to have. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always try to describe the items as best as I can. I don't see any other chips, fleabites, cracks, stains, scratches, cloudiness, or repairs anywhere on the bowl. It comes from a smoke-free home. I only accept PayPal, and never charge extra for packaging and handling. Shipping and Insurance sent via USPS Priority Mail costs .85. Payment is expected within 3 days, after which I will immediately ship out the
plate
as soon as payment is verified by eBay. Buyer may be subject to sales tax which is collected by eBay, and not given to me at all. If payment is not received within 5 days, the
